FAQ

Any Questions? Answered

RCS (Rich Communication Services) is an advanced messaging protocol designed to upgrade traditional SMS (Short Message Service) by enabling more interactive, feature-rich communication. It is often referred to as the next generation of SMS and is considered a competitor to messaging apps like WhatsApp, iMessage, and Facebook Messenger.
A virtual number is a phone number that isn't tied to a physical phone line or SIM card. It exists in the cloud and allows you to make and receive calls over the internet, often through an app or web-based interface. These numbers are commonly used for business purposes, offering features like call forwarding, voicemail, and call recording, and can be accessed from various devices.
RCS (Rich Communication Services) itself is a messaging protocol and does not natively support payment functionalities like standalone payment apps (e.g., PayPal, Venmo, or Google Pay). However, some RCS-compatible messaging apps or platforms, like richmessage, particularly those integrated with business services, may allow payments through specific implementations.
RCS messaging operates over an internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data) and is integrated directly into the default messaging apps on Android devices. It does not require a separate app like WhatsApp or Messenger, making it a more convenient and unified messaging solution. Google has been a major proponent of RCS, pushing its adoption through the Google Messages app. However, for RCS to function properly, both the sender and recipient must have RCS-enabled devices, and their mobile carriers must support the protocol. Unlike Apple's iMessage, RCS has been slow to gain universal adoption due to inconsistent carrier support, but it is steadily becoming the standard for modern messaging.
RCS (Rich Communication Services) does not require a separate app in most cases. It's a messaging protocol built into many modern smartphones and their default messaging apps, like Google Messages on Android or iMessage on iOS (though iOS uses its own system).

On Android, Google Messages is the most common app for RCS, often pre-installed or available for download from the Google Play Store. If your carrier and device support RCS, enabling it usually involves turning on the "Chat features" in the app settings, no extra app needed.

For iOS, RCS support was introduced in iOS 18 (2024), but it’s limited to carrier support and works through the default Messages app, not requiring a separate app.If RCS isn’t supported by your carrier or device, you might need a third-party app that supports RCS, but this is rare as most modern devices integrate it natively. Check your messaging app settings or carrier details to confirm RCS availability.
Ensure your Android phone and carrier support RCS. Most modern Android devices (running Android 9 or later) and major carriers support RCS. Open Google Messages. Tap your profile picture (top-right) or go to Settings > Chat features. Toggle on Enable chat features (RCS). If prompted, verify your phone number. Wait for the status to show Connected. If it says Setting up or Disconnected, ensure you have an internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data) or check with your carrier.

RCS on iPhone requires iOS 18 or later (released 2024). Update your iPhone via Settings > General > Software Update. Go to Settings > Apps > Messages. Look for RCS Messaging and toggle it on. If the option isn’t visible, your carrier or iOS version may not support RCS.
